What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker II position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is semi-skilled manual work requiring the application of skills and knowledge above the basic laboring level. Work includes a variety of cleaning tasks including pressure washing sidewalks and outside windows; landscaping to include maintenance of grounds and turf, and sprinklers/irrigation; pickup of litter; helping with classroom/meeting room set ups; and performing minor repairs in a Major City facility using specialized hand tools, power tools, and equipment. An employee in this class performs heavy manual labor, occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
Salary: $17.04 - $22.92 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of facilities maintenance experience.
- Be able to properly and safely use two (2) and four (4) stroke small engine equipment.
- Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Have basic computer skills.
- Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, an applicant must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Are experienced in the operation of small turf maintenance equipment.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
