The City of St. Cloud is seeking a dedicated and experienced Recreation Superintendent to lead our efforts in providing engaging, inclusive, and high-quality recreation programs and events for our community. The purpose of this position is to ensure that the Recreation Department offers a diverse range of programs and activities for all ages—planned and implemented responsibly, creatively, and within the approved budget.

- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Plans, promotes and implements a City-wide recreation program; responds to community needs in program planning and scheduling.
- Plans, develops, promotes, implements, and manages a successful array of recreation programs. Oversees the operation of, on and off-site recreation areas and activities, and serves as a liaison to clubs and committees.
- Provides advisory support and acts as liaison to other Departments, citizen committees, community agencies and schools to facilitate the delivery of recreation programs and services.
- Reviews the scheduling of classes, events and programs; evaluates programs and classes for their success and perceived value and continues to add new programming to departmental offerings.
- Researches trends and demographics and assesses community needs, usage fees, and project changes to plan strategically for the future.
- Visits and inspects programming sites to ensure the proper operation of programs and compliance with City policies, rules and regulations.
- Documents program participation, the performance of staff, the experience of budgeted funds, and compliance with policies and regulations through the maintenance of records and the filing of reports; reviews expenditure and revenue information from programs and classes for accuracy and performance.
- Determines strategies to develop and implement goals, objectives, policies and priorities for Recreation Division programs that will foster human development, health and wellness, safety and security, cultural unity and community identity.
- Prepares employee schedules and completes and verifies employee time sheets, accident/injury/incident reports of staff and participants; investigates instances of accidents, injury, misconduct or activity in violation of laws, rules or regulations, and administers discipline as appropriate.
- Performs related work as assigned.
