Equipment Operator (Water Distribution)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Water Distribution department is tasked with operation, maintenance and repair of the City’s water distribution system; performing repairs of the distribution system. The Equipment Operator is an entry-level position and serves as a member of the crew in the performance of field duties, assignments, assessments and repair of the distribution system. The Equipment Operator may also be required to work within any part of the Underground Utilities department as directed by the Foreman.

As a public employee this position is responsible for providing reliable delivery of utility services. This position requires consistent and prompt response to emergency repairs that occur outside of normal working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid class B CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in the Underground Utilities or other closely related experience (construction, plumbing, HVAC, electrical or similar) is desirable.
• Possession or the ability to possess an Ohio EPA Class I Distribution license within 18 months of hire.
• Maintain residency as required by the City.
