Work Performed:
CNG/Hybrid Mechanic work activities involve the following tasks:
Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on CNG/Hybrid vehicles and/or equipment. Plan, propose and implement approved work, training and safety program in CNG/Hybrid vehicles, equipment to include the CNG fueling station and its components such as pumps, compressors and other related equipment. Analyze and determine cause of malfunctions in ignition systems. Instrumentation. Enter and maintain work orders in the Fleet Maintenance System. Diagnose/ repair A/C malfunctions. Use hand tools, timing devices, lap top and other diagnostic electronic equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. At least 8 years' experience in the field of automotive/truck or heavy equipment repair.
2. Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to perform tasks.
3. At least 40 hours of certified training in CNG/Hybrid vehicles/equipment. This may be either classroom/lab or hands on training.
4. Knowledge of CNG fueling station components and operation.
5. Successfully complete ASE test certification in Alternative Fuel vehicles (includes CNG vehicles). If not at time of hire/promotion, must be completed within 18 months.
6. Must recertify Alternative Fuel vehicle portion upon expiration of current test series.
7. Ability to plan, initiate and execute programs: ability to interpret and apply approved policies and procedures; verbal facility, tact and diplomacy and ability to maintain harmony among peers and subordinates.
Physical Requirements: Tasks involve sedentary to light work, involving some reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling of objects and material; may involve moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (12-50 pounds).
Tasks may require perception and discrimination of color, sound, odor as well as visual and ability for communication.
