The City of Sherwood is seeking a motivated, creative, and community-centered Temporary Arts Center Assistant to support the Sherwood Center for the Arts during the transition to a permanent Events Coordinator. đ About the RoleThis temporary position plays a key role in ensuring smooth operations at the Sherwood Center for the Arts. Youâll partner closely with the Arts Center Manager to support classes, events, rentals, marketing, customer service, and general arts programming. Every day brings something differentâand your work directly enhances arts access for our community.
đ Key ResponsibilitiesThe Temporary Arts Center Assistant will:
Marketing & Communications- Prepare and design marketing materials for classes, programs, and events
- Work closely with the Manager to post to social media and boost visibility for events
- Professionally communicate via email, phone, and in-person with community partners, instructors, contractors, and the public
- Coordinate spring arts education classes
- Assist with programs and events, including the Family Matinee Series
- Provide customer service at the front desk and lead tours of the facility
- Enter class listings and print class rosters through Active Network
- Assist with gallery preparation, takedown, and restoring walls
- Support rentals and events as needed, ensuring high-quality customer service and operational success
- Follow opening, closing, and safety procedures
- Track, inventory, and maintain tech equipment; coordinate repairs when needed
- Help develop the Spring and Summer class/event schedule
- Check availability and coordinate with teaching artists, gallery artists, performers, and vendors
- Send, track, and file contracts related to arts programming and rentals
- Assist with keeping tech upgrades on track

- Understands the day-to-day operations of a busy arts center or theater
- Has experience or interest as a teaching artist or working directly with arts education
- Understands how public art enhances urban environments and can envision new program possibilities
- Values partnerships and enjoys working with community groups, artists, contractors, and City staff
- Has strong social media and visual marketing experience
- Communicates clearly and professionally with diverse audiences
- Excels in problem-solving and can work effectively under deadlines
- Brings events experienceâformal or informalâto support a wide variety of arts activities
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- High school graduate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Four (4) years of professional experience in arts administration or local government
- Demonstrated experience using social media for outreach or marketing
- Desire to serve the public and support civic engagement
- Temporary Duration: Up to 2 months
- Hours: Up to 30 hours per week
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Worksite: Sherwood Center for the Arts
