The Department of Facilities and Operations is responsible for the functions of the City’s physical spaces, including buildings, grounds and infrastructure. The entry-level facilities maintenance employee is responsible for performing basic upkeep, repairs, and routine maintenance to ensure the functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the facility. This role supports the team in maintaining building systems, grounds, and equipment, while adhering to established safety standards and company policies. The employee will collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of duties. This position requires a high level of confidentiality. All City employees are expected to be honest and truthful at all times.

- Conducts routine inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and address issues promptly.
- Performs basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building upkeep.
- Assists with groundskeeping tasks, such as landscaping, snow removal, and waste management.
- Assists in Custodial/Janitorial duties as needed.
- Supports the maintenance of HVAC systems and other mechanical equipment under guidance from senior team members.
- Cleans and organizes maintenance tools, supplies, and workspaces for optimal efficiency.
- Complies with safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment.
- Reports any major maintenance concerns or equipment malfunctions to supervisors for further action.
- Collaborates with team members on larger projects and contribute to overall operational goals.
- Keeps accurate records and reports.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license required.
- Some experience in maintenance, construction, or related fields is preferred but not always required.
- Basic knowledge of building systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC) is a plus.
- Knowledge of the proper uses and techniques for using materials, equipment and power and hand tools for ground maintenance, repair, construction and other departmental activities.
- Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safe work practices involved in the operations of the Facilities and Operations Department.
- Knowledge of basic mathematical principles.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members.
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
