Job Responsibilities
As a Project Services Intern within the Project Delivery & Engineering Branch (PDEB), you will play a vital role in supporting the lifecycle of major capital improvement projects. You will work directly with Project Management and Controls teams to ensure financial accuracy, data integrity, and efficient governance of SPU’s diverse project portfolio.

Job Responsibilities
As a Project Services Intern within the Project Delivery & Engineering Branch (PDEB), you will play a vital role in supporting the lifecycle of major capital improvement projects. You will work directly with Project Management and Controls teams to ensure financial accuracy, data integrity, and efficient governance of SPU’s diverse project portfolio.
Anticipated Responsibilities
- Research and process PDEB CIP contract purchase orders (45%)
- Update Clarity PPM with governance information, project hierarchy, and related projectdata (25%)
- Assistwiththeintake,processing,routing,andtrackingofCIPGovernanceGaterequests(15%)
- Support the development, execution, and quality control of reports (15%)
Through this role, you will bridge the gap between academic theory and the practical application of project management within a municipal government setting. By the conclusion of this term, you will have:
- Gain working experience with Clarity PPM project management software and Oracle PeopleSoft
- Understand project schedules and how different PDEB groupsleverageClarity PPM, with an emphasis on quality control
- Learn how project funding decisions integrate with and influence project schedules
- Gain exposure to the breadth and variety of SPU's capital project portfolio
- Build a cross-functional network across multiple branches and leadership levels within SPU
- Understand how accounting, contracting,purchasing, and project delivery functions intersect in a large public utility
- Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or Project Management
- Academic Focus:Studying Public Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Architecture, or Construction Management.
- Exception:Studentsare not required tobe enrolled during summer sessions but must provide documentation of continued Fall enrollment at the end of the Spring quarter.
- Students must be enrolled at least part-time or full-time and maintain a 2.5 GPA (undergraduate) for the duration of the internship.

- Proficiencywith Microsoft Office (required)
- Approaches challenges by proposing solutions, not just presenting problems (desired)
- Demonstrates a nimble, puzzle-solver mindset withstrong communicationskills (big plus)
- Working knowledge of AACE International and PMI standards and practices (big plus)
- Hours: During school sessions, work hours are flexible to complement class schedules (up to 20 hours per week).
- Breaks: This internship permits up to 40 hours per week during summer months and school breaks.
- Schedule: Work is typically performed Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM at the Seattle Municipal Tower (SMT).
- Salary: The salary range for this internship is$22.56 -$22.56per hour.
