- Assisting field teams with quickly diagnosing and troubleshooting irrigation system issues
- Designing efficient irrigation systems for a wide range of landscaped environments
- Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing multiple types and models of irrigation controllers
- Performing maintenance and repairs on irrigation mainlines, control valves, and backflow prevention devices
- Operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, small and large trenchers, and front-end loaders, along with hand tools to install and repair irrigation components
- Conducting system audits, performance checks, and inspections to ensure optimal water coverage and responsible resource use
- Working collaboratively with maintenance crews to support landscaping, turf care, and irrigation planning
- Keeping accurate, timely documentation of repairs, inventory, controller programming, and system updates

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Three years of professional experience in irrigation work.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements
- Must possess or obtain within one year of hire a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification.
- Must possess, at time of application, and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 36 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Motor Vehicle Department requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona. Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
