We are looking for a skilled and dependable Motor Equipment Operator to join Frederick County's Sanitary District team. In this hands-on role, you will operate and maintain a variety of heavy and light equipment to support the construction, maintenance, and repair of County infrastructure.
What You'll Do
As a Motor Equipment Operator, you will:
Physical Demands: Requires frequent lifting of up to 80 pounds, prolonged standing and walking, and the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, grip, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
Environmental Conditions: Indoor and outdoor work is conducted in variable weather conditions – including extreme heat/cold. Exposed to high or low temperatures, humid conditions, and other unfavorable weather conditions throughout the year.

Do you possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License?
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Motor Equipment Operator to join Frederick County's Sanitary District team. In this hands-on role, you will operate and maintain a variety of heavy and light equipment to support the construction, maintenance, and repair of County infrastructure.
What You'll Do
As a Motor Equipment Operator, you will:
- Operate a dump truck, front-end loader and attachments, bobcat and attachments, pickup with snowplow and hopper, heavy roller, backhoe in maintenance and construction of roads, and a tractor with sickle bar – rotary cutter; and use various hand and power tools.
- Service and make repairs and adjustments on equipment.
- When not operating heavy equipment, operate lighter equipment or train other operators.
- Perform manual labor as directed by the manager or his/her designee.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
- Two (2) years’ experience in the operation of motorized and heavy equipment.
- Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Thorough knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation.
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary for the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment.
- Must be available for emergency call-outs and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
