EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Any combination of experience and education providing the required knowledge and abilities would meet the qualifying criteria set forth below.
Experience: One year of experience performing related duties in mail, warehousing or delivery.
Education: Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge Of
Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” California Driver’s license and a good driving record sufficient to be insurable by the District’s carrier.

PREFERENCE POINTS: Seniority credit, based on length of service, is added to the final passing score of permanent employees. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All potential employees must provide evidence of their identity and authorization to work in the United States before they will be hired. State law requires employees to provide proof that they have had a recent negative tuberculosis test result. All new employees are fingerprinted and conviction records, if any, are checked.
SALARIES, MERIT INCREASES & ADVANCED STEP PLACEMENT: Salaries generally begin on the first step of the appropriate salary range. Permanent employees receive an increase after six months of continuous satisfactory service and equal raises based on merit at subsequent one year intervals for a total of five increases. Relevant experience and/or education in excess of entry requirements may permit employment at other than the first step. If employed at a higher step, salary increases are granted annually until reaching the end of the salary range.
BENEFITS: Permanent employees will receive paid holidays, sick leave, vacation and longevity benefits per bargaining unit contract or Personnel Commission Merit Rules. The District offers a comprehensive package of insurance benefits to full-time employees and their families, which includes major medical and dental. (Permanent employees who work less than full-time, but a minimum of four (4) hours will contribute an amount proportionate to the number of assigned hours for major medical and dental.) Employees belong to the Public Employees' Retirement System to which the District makes contributions approximately equal to those deducted from the employee's pay.

- Receives, picks up and delivers school mail, food, supplies, furniture and equipment for all District locations.
- Checks goods received for conformance with invoices.
- Maintains a clean and orderly stockroom.
- Maintains a clean vehicle at all times.
- Packages and sends out goods.
- Fills stock orders.
- Sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Processes outgoing United States mail including special handling if required.
- Sets, cleans and adjusts the postage meter and scales.
- Ensures that sufficient available postage is maintained and is responsible for taking the funds to the post office to add to the meter.
- Maintains accurate records of the postage used by individual departments so that this is billed correctly to the appropriate accounts.
- Picks up daily cafeteria cash receipts and delivers the money to designated locations.
- Maintains physical inventory of warehoused Food and Nutrition Services Department items.
- Maintains fixed asset system; tags and receives for fixed asset inventory.
- Lists incoming packages as received, delivers to departments and has them signed for receipt.
- Operates forklift, light truck and pallet jack.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Learn to operate a forklift in a warehouse situation and on the street.
- Learn to operate computer software programs.
- Learn to operate postage-metering equipment.
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions.
- Follow instructions without requiring close supervision.
- Communicate appropriately, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Meet schedules and deadlines while working under pressure.
