We are currently seeking:
A Wastewater Plant Operator (D) to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the operation of a Wastewater (W/W) treatment plant and related infrastructure systems, according to job specifications and technical codes. Training will be provided.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring gauges, meters and electronic control panels; recording readings and maintaining shift log.
- Operating pumps, compressors, valves and other equipment to control and adjust flow and treatment processes.
- Observing variations in operating conditions; performing tests to determine processing requirements and reporting recommendations to supervisor.
- Collecting samples.
- Maintaining plant work areas, tools and equipment in a safe and orderly condition; performing preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Monitoring and regulating chemical processes.
- Ensuring safety rules and regulations are followed; utilizing proper safety precautions in all work performed; reporting safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
- Must be able to work various shifts in a 24/7 operation.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Raises given for various certifications.
- Must possess a valid driver license with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- Minimum Class D - Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or acquisition of license within 6 months from hire.
- TCEQ -Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license is required to be maintained in active compliant status at all times for position eligibility.
- Career path expectation: Due to state licensing requirements for this facility, operators will receive training, classes and preparation to progress certifications/licenses to a minimum of class B Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Continued position eligibility is contingent on candidates passing testing and obtaining class C and B licenses within 6 months from the time of TCEQ license testing qualification.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in Water Utilities Department facilities; required to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
