We are currently seeking:
A Recreation Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will supervise and coordinate recreation facilities, recreational activities, nutrition programs, special events, and senior services activities and programs; monitor recreation activities and participants for compliance with City policies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, coordinating and organizing activities and special events; programs include sports & exercise, exercise classes, a wide variety of senior activities, educational programs, special events, and volunteer activities.
- Organizing and supervising recreation facilities, activities and programs; senior programs and activities for compliance with all laws, policies, regulations and goals.
- Supervising senior services program guests and activities, and enforcing City policies and safety standards.
- Planning, developing and coordinating special events and holiday activities.
- Maintaining facilities and equipment in clean and safe condition, and in compliance with City policies, procedures and regulations.
- Coordinating outreach activities with local community agencies and citizen groups to enhance City programs and facilitate community participation.
- Coordinating program activities and utilization of facilities with schools and community groups.
- Coordinating administrative activities, including work schedules, payroll reporting, budgets, expenditures, revenue, and program reporting; maintaining inventory of supplies and materials.
- Supervising, training and evaluating staff; to include nutrition program, monitoring work, reviewing work activities, assuring staff maintain safe and effective recreation facilities, and adhere to policies and procedures for efficient and safe operations to include all aspects of kitchen and food preparation, and senior areas.
- Monitoring and reviewing trends in public recreation operations and programs and recommending improvements in the city recreation programs.
- Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

- Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
- Interpreting and applying department standards and City policies.
- Developing recommendations for improvements of recreation programs and senior facilities.
- Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Promoting and enforcing safe work practices.
- Promoting use of senior services programs and services.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with employees, officials, other community services agencies and the public to include volunteers and leaders.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Business or Public Administration; and two years' experience in recreation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- Must be able to obtain a food handlers certification within three months.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and at City recreation facilities and venues.
- Some work may require outdoor activities for different weather situations.
- Some work will require evenings and weekends.
- Positions will be responsible for overseeing a minimum of two recreation facilities and taking on all aspects of overseeing the buildings. To include being called in after hours when issues come up.
