What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Technician I position at CITY OF SALEM TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS - CITY OF SALEM?
Performs intermediate skilled trades work in a variety of facility maintenance assignments, and in the construction, replacement, and repair of buildings and facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Building Maintenance Superintendent.
Essential Functions
- Performs a wide variety of building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and HVAC repair, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Assists other Technicians when needed; assists with more complex installations and repairs such as installing water pumps and direct digital control (DDC) systems for air handler units.
- Repairs and maintains HVAC systems in all City and School buildings; changes air filters; replaces belts; greases bearings and motors.
- Maintains air compressors and exhaust fan belts and motors.
- Cleans and maintains cooling towers and chillers.
- Attends training as needed to stay abreast of new practices, tools, and techniques.
- Reads complex and standard prints, diagrams, schematics, manuals, and related materials.
