Handles maintenance in all City buildings. Change HVAC equipment filters for all city units. Attends vendors meetings for new products, tests them and provides recommendations. Completes vendor requisitions and keeps material organized and supplied.
Prepares rooms for meetings and special events by setting up tables, chairs and necessary equipment and restores area to original state. Occasionally fills in for custodial staff during vacations and sick leave.
In charge of United States Flag, Texas, and Rowlett Flags on Observance Days to be half-staff and be back to full staff, change and replace flags as needed. Pick up and deliver supplies and equipment to other locations.High School Diploma or GED plus one year of related experience required.
Working knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building maintenance, including hand tools, personnel/scissor lift and cleaning supplies. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely. Ability to read and understand MSDS, labels on containers, signage, and daily work schedule. Ability to account for deliveries, gross measure of liquids (i.e., cup to gallon). Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.Valid driver’s license required. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee pursuant to City policy.
General knowledge of building operations and maintenance, such as electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems preferred.
Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 30 lbs and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, climbing and driving.
Under the direction of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Technician, will focus on the maintenance and repair of City facilities as required. This includes minor plumbing and electrical, HVAC inspection, re-lamping fixtures, as well as minor carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs. Performs related duties as assigned. Responsible for regular, on-time attendance.
