The City of Rio Rancho is seeking a Deputy Director to join our Utilities Department leadership team!
Responsibilities
The Deputy Director of Utilities is responsible for assisting the director with the management and leadership of the department. This is a “hands on” position calling for a team leader cognizant of the obstacles and opportunities associated with municipal development. A primary function of this position is to expedite, facilitate, and monitor development projects. This includes working closely with the director and division managers on the basic conceptualization of the efforts through their final presentation, facilitating the resolution of issues regarding development projects, managing internal and external communications, and serving as the lead for oversight of day to day operations of the City’s utilities contractor. Depending on the expertise of the incumbent, the director may assign direct supervision of one or more department divisions and/or individual employees as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in civil engineering or another relevant discipline and five years’ experience in engineering with at least three of those years supervising employees.
