What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance and Operations Crew Supervisor - Roadways position at City of Richmond?
The City of Richmond Department of Public Works is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of Maintenance and Operations Crew Supervisor in the Roadways Division. The incumbent is responsible for providing oversight of various City maintenance tasks to include but not limited to pothole maintenance, capital projects, roadway maintenance, etc. as well as supervising the work of assigned maintenance staff and equipment operators as well as performing advance routine maintenance tasks for City roadways and alleys.
- Directing, supervising, evaluating and performing work performed by assigned crew
- Coordinating training and providing guidance, feedback, and training to crew members
- Implementing hiring, terminating, and disciplinary actions related to staffing matters
- Directing workflow and developing maintenance schedules
- Investigating and working to resolve citizen concerns and complaints
- Participating in long range planning for the Division
- Developing strategies and implementing decisions about the acquisition and use of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Ensuring inventory levels are managed and monitored efficiently
- Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and other service providers regarding resources
- Serving as a lead worker as required
- Performing other related duties as required
**City of Richmond Public Works employees are considered essential personnel and will be required to work during declared emergencies and major weather events.**
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of experience in the assigned area
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
- Five (5) or more years of roadway maintenance experience
- Two (2) or more years of experience operating as a crew supervisor or lead
- Prior construction experience or inspecting construction projects
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures and practices
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- A valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license within 30 days of hire
- Some assignments may require a valid Commonwealth of Virginia commercial driver's license
