Richmond Fire and Emergency Services is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as temporary, part-time Warehouse Technicians. In this crucial support role, you’ll help ensure our frontline teams can serve the community efficiently and safely.
This class provides inventory management, distribution, and warehousing functions. Work may include: issuing, receiving and tracking inventory; soliciting quotes from contractors and vendors for materials, tools, and supplies; assisting with purchasing; following up with vendors on purchase orders; receiving, locating, and distributing tools, materials, and supplies; initiating replenishment of materials through requisitions; assisting customers in selecting materials; performing data entry; operating forklifts and other materials handling equipment; and following policies and procedures for safe storage of chemicals and other hazardous materials. This class may also assist with special projects as assigned.

Duties include but are not limited to
- Managing and maintaining inventory supplies. Performing periodic inventories.
- Assisting customers and City employees in obtaining needed materials.
- Performing data entry functions to maintain accurate logs and records. Processing invoices, verifying accuracy against purchase order and supplies received.
- Soliciting quotes from vendors and ordering materials needed.
- Receiving inventory and moving inventory to desired location. May use a forklift to move inventory.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
Minimum Training And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of any related experience.
- Basic computer proficiency and moderate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel applications
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.
- Valid forklift certification (Preferred)
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire, as assigned

- Procurement processes, purchasing processes, and cycle counting
- Inventory practices
- Forklift (Preferred)
- Safety
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Arithmetic
- Entering data accurately

- Managing inventory

- Work with a diverse team
- Manage time effectively
- Operate forklifts, fork truck, ladders, hand tools, banding machine, drills, mobile stairs, and power tools
