The City of Raleigh is looking for a Parking Enforcement Representative to join the Parking Operations of our Transportation Department. This full-time position is the first level in a five-level Parking Services Series devoted to providing customer service and parking regulation enforcement.

We efficiently manage the City’s parking operations and assets while providing on-street and off-street parking services for residents, businesses, and visitors. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Patrols and monitors assigned enforcement areas and issue citations for improperly parked vehicles; boot vehicle as required for unpaid parking citations
- Provides directions to customers for appropriate location of building
- Responds to routine questions or concerns and provides information related to parking procedures and ordinances
- Reviews and verifies information related to parking time allotment; monitors vehicles parked over time limits and determines violation
- Organizes and maintains activity records, logs, and citation-related documentation
- This position will be required to operate a City owned vehicle on a regular basis as part of the core duties of this role
Licensing or Certifications:
- Valid Class C Driver's license or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Knowledge of:
- Standard practices, methods, and materials that are assigned for work

- Filing and record-keeping principles
- Occupational hazards and other applicable safety principles and practices
- Proper use of supplies and equipment
- Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard office equipment and computer applications such as word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications

Physical Effort:
Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an outdoor or street environment (near moving traffic), on a construction site and in or around vehicles.
Work Exposures:
There is frequent exposure to individuals who are hostile or irate, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals or substances. Employees may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees) loud noises.
