Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialist

Our Raleigh Fire Department is hiring two (2) Senior Fleet Maintenance Specialists to join our team! Fire Department mechanics are assigned to work on fire apparatus only, providing a unique opportunity for focused work.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

• Performs advanced fleet repairs and preventative maintenance on fire apparatus such as aerial ladders, fire engines, and heavy-duty rescue trucks, using the set of tools provided
• Troubleshoot issues with fire pumps, aerial devices, drivetrains, cooling systems, and electrical components

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent and at least 6 months of training beyond High School in Automotive Repair or related field, with 3 to 5 years’ experience in automotive repair, vehicle electronics, or a related field

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Licensing and Certifications:

• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
• Valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Automotive Service Excellence certifications (City of Raleigh can provide fee reimbursement for obtaining this certification)
