PROGRAM MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (30%)
Identifies and develops special events, including parades, concerts, festivals, farmers markets, and other activities.
Sets up and breaks down event equipment.
Works with community organizations on special community and quality of life projects and events.
CULTURAL ARTS EVENTS RESPONSIBILITIES (30%)
Works with and manages groups within the Creative and Performing Arts Council.
Plans, prepares, publicizes, executes and follows-up on cultural arts events.
Attends meetings of councils, boards, and committees.
Coordinates with external arts organizations.
PERSONNEL & MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (30%)
Prepares budget requests and administers approved funds.
Prepares grant applications and manages grant funds.
Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and participates in the hiring and discipline process of department personnel.
Coordinates publicity and promotion of arts and special events; develops ad campaigns; appears in live and recorded interviews.
Responds to requests and inquiries from the general public.
Prepares a variety of regular and special reports, and operational procedures.
Prepares a variety of correspondence.
Maintains files and records.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES (10%)
Assists other departments.
Performs other duties as needed or assigned.Bachelors' Degree in Arts, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field is required.
Three (3) years' experience in public relations, event planning or programming.
Three (3) years' of supervisory experience.
Experience in grant writing preferred.
Familiarity with creative concepts and an appreciation of the arts is preferred.The following requirements are normal for this classification.
