Works under the direct supervision of the center’s supervisor or designee. The employee must exhibit friendly and professional customer service skills while performing technical work in developing, implementing, and overseeing a wide variety of recreational program areas such as cultural arts, special events, recreational classes and activities—including summer camp, after school, and athletics. The role assists with the day-to-day operations of diverse recreational programs for different age groups and interests, ensuring safe, clean, and welcoming facilities.

- Assist with the daily operational functions of the assigned recreational center and its wide variety of programs.
- Perform light maintenance to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the facility.
- Provide clerical and administrative support, including:
- Greet the public and answer inquiries about city or departmental operations, programs, and activities.
- Assisting walk-in participants and patrons with necessary information.
- Receiving telephone inquiries and complaints, ascertaining the nature of the call, and directing to the appropriate personnel.
- Preparing correspondence, publications, notices, flyers, and other related documents.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in planning, promoting, organizing, and conducting recreational activities in an organized recreation program position is preferred.
- Computer experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to establish rapport with the public.
- Ability to work various hours during the day, evening, and weekends.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, grasp, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to see, read, hear, and talk.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
