JOB TITLE: CLERK OF COMMITTEES
DEPARTMENT: CITY CLERK
UNION/NON-UNION: NON- UNION
The City of Pittsfield is seeking a clerk to provide administrative and organizational support to the following committees: 1) Ordinance and Rules, 2) Public Works and Utilities, and 3) Public Buildings and Maintenance. Attendance is required at evening meetings for the purposes of recording minutes.

Responsibilities
While performing the duties of the Clerk of Committees, the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City.
Physical Requirements
Operates standard office equipment including computers and keyboards, at efficient speed; and move throughout the municipal building which may include flights of stairs. Lifts/moves objects weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
HOURS: Approximately 5-10 hours a month. Hours fluctuate with monthly meeting schedule.
SALARY: $2,880 yearly ($240/month)

Responsibilities
- Communicates with committee chair for preparation of meeting agenda and materials.
- Distributes meeting materials to committee members.
- Ensures that all meetings are properly posted in accordance with applicable state laws.
- Maintains an organized record keeping system of committee documents.
- Mails hearing notifications to residents by certified mail.
- Applicable to current City employees only: Transcription of minutes, preparation of agenda, and other miscellaneous. tasks are to be completed on clerk’s own time and not during regular work hours.
- Experience in clerking for local government committees preferred.
- Strong computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Solid organizational skills and ability for accuracy.
- Experience in filing, photocopying, scanning, emailing, and other basic office functions.
