Duties

The Phoenix Police Department's Information Technology Bureau is currently seeking applicants to fill a User Technology Specialist position. The duties for this position include and are not limited to:

  • Hardware Support.
  • Resolve issues related to PCs and peripheral hardware, Printers, Scanners and Telephones.
  • Software Support.
  • Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft Office Applications, Windows 11, Anti-Virus, and business applications.
  • Develops and applies standard computer images with authorized software to computers to ensure consistent configurations.

  • Smartphone OS.

  • Collaborative and communication skills (written and verbal in technical and non-technical terms).

Ability To

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment, with the capacity to set priorities, organize time, and identify resources for projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve basic computer and technical issues.

SALARY

Pay Range: $29.58 to $48.19 per hour.

Hiring Range: $29.58 to $43.71 per hour.

  • Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
  • Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 056. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

  • Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software or installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems.
  • OR One year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems.
  • OR One year of experience in avionics maintenance;
  • and course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience with/in:

  • Service Desk / Service Now or other helpdesk ticketing systems.
  • Writing scripts; batch files, PowerShell, etc.
  • Unified Endpoint Management (UEM)/Mobile Device Management (MDM) Software.
  • Equipment Inventory / Asset Tracking Management.
