SUMMARY OF POSITION LOCATION: City of Pasco, WA (on-site) SALARY: $62,462 - 68,952, depending on qualifications JOB TYPE: Regular/Full-Time UNION STATUS: IUOE FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position working five days each week. The regular schedule includes weekend work. Specific workdays and hours will be discussed during the recruitment process and may vary based on operational needs.

CLOSING DATE: July 30th 2026 at 4:30pm The Role The Parks Groundsman II is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and overall condition of City softball and baseball fields to ensure safe, high-quality playing surfaces for daily use and tournament play. This position performs a variety of hands-on duties including field grooming, striping and painting, setting up fencing and pitching mounds, irrigation system operation and basic maintenance, and general upkeep of the softball complex and surrounding areas. In addition to maintenance responsibilities, this role provides direction and oversight to seasonal staff, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with established standards.

The Parks Groundsman II regularly interacts with patrons, teams, and tournament directors, requiring strong communication and customer service skills. This position follows a regular schedule of weekends. Standard work hours are 7:00 a.m

to 3:30 p.m., shifting to 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during summer months, as scheduled by management

Flexibility is required, including early start times and extended hours during tournaments and special events. Assignments may include but are not limited to: Perform and/or assist in a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance duties of facilities, including basic; carpentry, plumbing, and basic irrigation maintenance/repairs, under the supervision of a Lead or her/his designee. Maintain turf and grounds by applying fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides under supervision of a Lead or her/his designee. Operate small and large equipment.

Monitor and maintain proper water quality of swimming pools using chlorines and other chemicals to treat the water. Plant and prune trees and shrubs under direction of a Lead or her/his designee. Condition soil and renovate turf, repairing and installing backstops, bases, and related equipment to ensure general functional operation and safety.

Prepare cemetery plots for burials by using the backhoe to open and close graves, insert liners, and replace turf. Perform all other duties essential to the Groundsman I level and Seasonal Parks Laborer positions. Must be able to perform essential functions of the job.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Participate in snow removal and other maintenance operations as necessary. Ability to drain and service swimming pools as necessary. Skilled operation of advanced power tools such as a chainsaw Perform other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. High school diploma or GED. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in grounds and facility maintenance.

LICENSES, CERITIFCATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Certain licenses and certificates, if required, may be acquired on the job as agreed upon by the City and employee. Subject to change based on operational needs. PHYSICAL: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform manual labor in cramped conditions, climb ladders, bend, reach and stand for long periods of time. May be required to lift heavy equipment and materials in excess of 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. HAZARDS: Exposure to physical hazards from extreme conditions. Exposure to debris and drug paraphernalia, hazardous gases and fumes, chemicals, paints, herbicides and pesticides, traffic, dust, noise, confined spaces, operating machinery, mechanical/electrical equipment, and varying structures and properties.
