less than 5 years: 204 hours
5 to 9 years: 235.2 hours
10 to 14 years: 268.8 hours
15 to 19 years: 298.8 hours
20 years: 331.2 hours
PTO begins accruing immediately. At the end of the year, any unused annual leave up to 440 hours will roll over to the next year. Time will be accrued bi-weekly and shown on each paycheck.
RETIREMENT: Certified Firefighters are fully vested after 10 years of employment. Employees can become partially vested beginning at five (5) years of service. Partial vesting at five (5) years is 50%, six (6) years 60%, seven (7) years 70%, eight (8) years 80%, and nine (9) years 90%. Firefighters are eligible for retirement upon attainment of age 50 and the completion of 20 years of credited service or the attainment of age 55 and the completion of 10 years of credited service. You have the option at the time of employment to elect to be eligible for retirement upon completion of 25 years credited service regardless of age. This election is irrevocable. HOLIDAYS: Employees receive 14 holidays per year. The holidays are:
Spouse Dental Coverage only $34.85/month; Child/Children $49.31/month; Family Dental Coverage $87.48/month. MAJOR DUTIES
- Operates a variety of pumps, ladders, hoses, and other equipment at the scene of fire, rescue and other emergency incidents.
- Completes required reports detailing fire, emergency medical, and other incident responses.
- Completes required training and maintains required certifications.
- Inspects equipment to ensure that it is in proper working order; washes and cleans equipment on a regular basis; repairs and performs routine maintenance on equipment; ensures the proper functioning of all equipment and vehicles.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies aboard vehicles; conducts regular inspections.
- Provides fire prevention information to the public; assists in teaching fire safety classes; provides tours of the fire station.
- Performs housekeeping, grounds keeping, and building maintenance duties.
- Conducts station and apparatus tours for school and other community groups.
- Participates in public education events.
- Conducts pre-incident planning on commercial and residential structures as requested.
- Inspects and services fire hydrants.
- Assists with fire investigations to determine cause and origin of fires.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain Florida Certified Firefighter II certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate state EMT certification within one year of hire.
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Florida for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
