EMERGENCY STATUS*: ESSENTIAL WORKER; REQUIRED TO REPORT
[*IF REQUIRED TO REPORT: Must report to work for duty outside normally scheduled work hours in response to natural disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by City Administration.]
Operates Street Sweeper and/or Vac Truck as required. Performs intermediate skilled maintenance work on assigned equipment to ensure City streets and curbs are kept clean and free of obstructions. Performs other equipment operation tasks as assigned. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Stormwater Crew Leader.
$$$$$$$$ Possession of the required CDL allows for
an ADDITIONAL $1.00 PER HOUR OF INCENTIVE PAY
in addition to the pay as listed. $$$$$$$$

EMERGENCY REPORT STATUS: Essential Personnel
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. Attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
Operates assigned equipment; sweeps streets and removes debris as assigned; cleans ponds and ditches as directed.
Repairs and maintains manhole structures and storm pipes.
Maintains equipment including washing and broom change out; maintains, cleans, and inspects assigned vehicles.
Serves as essential personnel during natural or man-made disasters, emergencies, or critical incidents as determined by City Administration. If required to report for such an event, incumbent must report to work for duty outside normally scheduled work hours.
Responds to emergency call-back work after hours and performs on-call duties on a rotating basis.
Performs labor and other semi-skilled tasks as assigned.
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
Requires six (6) months of experience operating heavy equipment or closely related experience.
Requires a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with tank endorsement.
Must have, and maintain, a clean/acceptable driving record.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must be able and willing to work a shift that will require early morning work periodically according to the needs of the department. Must be able and willing to work on-call as needed and determined by department.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating a street sweeper, vac truck and other heavy construction equipment.
Thorough knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing equipment operation.
Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions necessary for the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Ability to read and write.
Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment; have a mechanical aptitude.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
