Summary
- Assists Recreation Center Coordinator in the operation and management of the South Ormond Neighborhood Center. Primary duties include developing, scheduling, implementing, directing and overseeing organized leisure/recreational programs for the center. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Center Coordinator.
- Plans, develops and oversees organized recreational programs through activity staff, instructors and volunteers.
- Promotes and develops various community-wide programs and functions in conjunction with community groups.
- Seeks assistance in planning and funding from community groups to offset event expenditures.
- Coordinates, recruits and supervises volunteer and community agency personnel.
- Assists in planning, coordination and implementation of summer camp and associated programs.
- Manages program registration, daily tracking of attendance, finance and expenses.
- Coordinates scheduling of center facility and park and evaluates programs.
- Assists in the training, assigning and evaluation of staff conducting programs and activities. Insures that all personnel assigned to program adhere to safety codes.
- Maintains contacts with community groups by involving them in activity planning.
- Recommends new or revised activities through studies, reports and trends.
- Schedules activities, games, classes, tournaments, etc. Assists in coordinating facility maintenance activities and completes work orders in a timely fashion.
- Participates in the development of the annual operating budget and assists in achieving budgetary goals for the division.
- Verifies correctness of time and attendance records on all subordinate employees, as well as other miscellaneous daily information.
- Attends classes, workshops and seminars relevant to position as assigned.
- Prepares and presents oral programs to various civic groups, organizations, etc.
- Designs brochures and promotional materials for program marketing of facility and programing.
- Requisitions equipment, materials and supplies for all programs and coordinates the efficient allocation of labor, materials and equipment.
- Assists in the completion of various reports.
- Coordinates and attends various community meetings and staff meetings.
- Assists in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, the impacts of a wide variety of disasters or emergency situations and may be temporarily assigned to other duties, locations, and shifts.
- Meets attendance requirements.
- Performs other job-related functions as assigned.
- Directly responsible for defining program benefits and for the supervision of employees and volunteers assigned to specific center programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation or a closely related field supplemented by three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory position in parks and recreation or closely related field.
- Experience in the development of new programs is desired.
- A comparable amount of training or experience may be considered for the minimum qualifications.
