The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker. Â This is considered a Limited Term Employment position. Scheduled hours vary for each event, but may include: mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Â An employee in this position is responsible for a variety of tasks related to building maintenance and event functions. Work is performed according to established guidelines and reviewed by the Buildings Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions
- Complete the set-up and takedown of equipment from events and return the building to its original condition before and after each event.
- Enforce the rules of the Omni Center in regards to the general public by ensuring their safety when on the premises.
- Recognize any problems with regards to the building, its contents, equipment, or supplies and report any questionable changes to the supervisor or maintenance lead by written or verbal communication.
- Assist in the maintenance of the ice, which includes resurfacing, flooding, patching and edging as well as any other duties deemed necessary.
- Assist in the maintenance of the building to maintain the best possible condition. Â Duties include, but are not limited to, bathroom cleaning and restocking, floor care, windows, and custodial cleaning, as well as some outside maintenance.
- Performs the opening procedures for the building during events as well as properly securing the building each night, as needed.
- Assure any customers or prospective customers needs are met during the course of an event to the best of ability or seek advice from the immediate supervisor.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the building and surrounding grounds.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and establish effective working relationships with the general public, associates, volunteers, and staff; and have the ability to calmly approach and solve problems under stressful circumstances; maintain and promote harmony in the workplace; ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and be flexible.
- Contributes to a cooperative working effort by demonstrating a willingness to perform other job-related work as needed or requested. Assistance is given to others and special projects to be completed as scheduled or requested.
