Position Summary:
This position reports to the Public Works' Facility Maintenance Supervisor and performs manual and semi-skilled work in the cleaning, minor maintenance, repairs, and other department assignments to assist with overall department operations.
Essential Functions:
- Operates under limited supervision in the servicing and cleaning of City owned facilities
- Clean, Service and restock restrooms
- Gather and empty trash.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
- Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
- Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
- Assist in the set-up, arrangement, or removal off decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
- Assist with facilities maintenance in the maintenance and repair of the City's buildings including painting, general carpentry, flooring, renovations, moving furniture, drywall, and roof repair.
- Maintains equipment in clean and operating manner.
- Reports to work for on-call after hour needs, as assigned.
- Inspects and maintains assigned equipment.
- Completes work orders, daily activity reports, inspection reports, and time sheets; maintains maintenance and service records/logs, and other pertinent information.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, Licensing, and Certifications:
- High School Diploma/equivalent
- Possession of a valid State of Tennessee Driver's License.
- Experience in Janitorial/Custodial preferred
