Starting Pay: $20.35 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dependable and hardworking Custodian II to join our Facilities team!
This position is responsible for the custodial maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of City buildings and facilities. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, provides excellent service to City employees and the public, and is comfortable working independently while following established procedures.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms and restock supplies
- Clean offices, including floors, blinds, and furniture
- Empty trash and recyclable materials
- Perform minor maintenance repairs
- Report maintenance needs to appropriate personnel
- Unload and inventory cleaning supplies
- Launder towels and mop heads
- Strip and wax floors
- Remove snow from sidewalks
- Assist with setting up rooms and facilities for meetings
- Perform other related custodial duties as assigned
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Approximately 1–2 years of related experience, or equivalent experience such as an apprenticeship or internship
- Knowledge of basic custodial maintenance practices, tools, and equipment
- Ability to safely and effectively use assigned tools and equipment
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid Missouri driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive background screening for access to law enforcement facilities
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
This is hands-on work that keeps City facilities clean, safe, functional, and ready for employees and the public. The position involves regular standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, lifting, and occasional ladder use.
The work is primarily performed indoors, with occasional exposure to dust, dirt, grease, noise, cleaning chemicals, and machinery. Appropriate protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and goggles may be required.
