What are the responsibilities and job description for the Musante Beach Head Lifeguard position at City of Northampton, MA?
DEFINITION:
Join the exciting Parks & Recreation Department team this summer!ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Seasonal Prep work for opening and closing beach including putting buoys out; inventory of equipment and other duties as needed.
Opening and closing of facility incluyding storage of safety equipment; locking facility;
Assist with equitable schedule of guarding staff; a Head or Asst. Head Guard must be on duty at all times the beach is open.
Supervision/evaluation of all guarding staff including written evaluations.
Accurate paperwork;recording to the Aquatics Supervisor as applicable; daily and incident logbooks; incident/accident reports; time cards; arrange for daily cash drop-off.
Reporting of all equipment needs for programming including; first aid supplies; forms/office supplies; etc.
Assistance with the preparation of and implementation of staff and in-service training sessions.
End of season report.
Lifeguard duties as described in lifeguard job description.
Staff meetings as required; and other duties as needed or requested by Aquatics & Family Center Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Lifeguard Training Certification
CPR/FPR
Community First Aid & Safety
Waterfront Module
A minimum of 1 year of lifeguard experience.
Must be in sound physical condition
Must pass a water skills test.
Desired Qualifications: Current certification in Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Previous experience as a Waterfront Supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to pass the water skills test and pass all the certifications necessary to complete the duties of this position; which include ability to see a distressed swimmer and physically pull them from the water.MISC. INFORMATION:
