What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker I - Water Production position at City of Norfolk?
The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is currently seeking a Maintenance Worker I for the Water Production Division. The Maintenance Worker I will be responsible for assisting with the repair and maintenance of the Water Production system.
- Digs and refills trenches and other excavations, cuts asphalt and concrete, maintains lawns.
- Loads and unloads, lifts and carries tools (up to 75 pounds), equipment and chemicals.
- Makes minor repairs to water production systems.
- Transports material and personnel to worksites.
- Climbs stairs and ladders, bends, stoops, pushes,pulls, lifts and carries up to 75 pounds, may stand for more than 8 hours.
- Requires knowledge of construction equipment, materials and work tasks.
- Requires ability to follow oral and written instruction.
No experience required.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. OR Monday - Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

This position is designated as Essential which means you may be required to work rotating, extended, after hours, weekend and/or holiday shifts in response to emergency situations and severe weather.
Salary : $41,600 - $47,737
