Job Opportunity: Maintenance Mechanic
The City of Nacogdoches Public Works Department is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic in the Water Utilities Division. Join our team and use your skilled trades experience to maintain vital infrastructure and keep the water flowing.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain and repair industrial equipment: pumps, motors, valves, gear reducers and piping.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems, including bearing and seal replacements, belt alignment and valve rebuilding.
- Work with various piping materials (ductile iron, carbon steel, and PVC).
- Ensure plant effectiveness and compliance through equipment checks and modifications.
- Assist operators and electrical/instrumentation personnel.
What You Need:
- High school diploma/GED.
- Prior equipment maintenance experience, preferably in a Water Utilities or industrial setting.
- Knowledge of skilled trades, including basic electrical and plumbing, and industrial equipment preventative maintenance.
- A valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. (Class A or B CDL adds an additional certificate/license pay up to $160.00 per month).
- Ability to perform heavy work (up to 75 pounds occasionally) in various environmental conditions, including outdoor work, high temperatures, and exposure to wastewater/chemicals.
