Job Function:
Performs specialized work assisting the Resource and Recreation Center Supervisor and Coordinator with operations and activities. Promotes good relationships with neighborhood and activity groups. May supervise one or more staff during facility operating hours. The employee is in direct physical supervision of activities that they are assigned. Must exercise considerable independence and self-motivation.

Essential Duties:
- Assists lead staff with the operations of the Resource and Recreation Center.
- Maintains order, discipline, and safety.
- Assists with the development and implementation of marketing strategies for programs.
- Ensure facilities are setup and ready before program or community use.
- Supervise programming during operating hours.
- Conduct inventory of supplies to ensure necessary supplies are on hand; order necessary supplies as needed.
- On site supervisor when supervisor or coordinator is not present.
- Form positive relationships with youth and families.
- Assist in ensuring the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment including keeping supplies organized, maintained, and clean.
- Performs other related functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Work requires constant standing, walking, bending, pushing and pulling.
- Requires occasional sitting, reaching overhead and climbing.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of public recreation programs and the needs of age group levels.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance to all age groups.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, employees and the general public.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports as required.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with parents and other customers.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One (1) year experience in recreation programming or recreation center operations.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- General knowledge of various recreational programs and activities required.
- Must possess knowledge of the behavior of children of a variety of age levels.
- Ability to deal with the general public of all ages tactfully and effectively.
- Must be physically able to participate in sports instruction.
- Ability to develop and/or possess positive interest in recreational activities necessary.
- Ability to work nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within six (6) months of completion of probationary period.
Essential Physical Skills:
- Must be able to operate a variety of recreational equipment, arts and crafts materials and supplies, and Windows-based computer systems.
- Must be able to lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction)
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without hearing aid)

- Works in an indoor and outdoor environment.
