The wage range posted is the starting range for the Career Ladder Level I position and will increase each year for longevity and cost of living adjustments.

Essential Functions
This position is part of a formal career ladder tying pay progression to the advancement and complexity of assigned duties and responsibilities.
All Positions:
- Provide support to program staff by facilitating and organizing logistics for various programs, services, and facilities, including transportation, storage facilities, equipment, etc.
- Assist with planning and facilitating various program activities and/or special events.
- Serve as shift lead within specified area of focus at assigned locations.
- Communicate with participants and families; respond to inquiries and provide important program and facility information; assist with customer service complaints.
- Assist with tracking program attendance and evaluation participant satisfaction.
- Coach and mentor short term and intermittently scheduled staff; encourage clear and professional communication among team members.
- Assist with responding and reporting injuries, accidents, and incidents.
- Other duties as assigned, based on training and qualifications.
- Greet and provide customer service to patrons, by phone and in person, regarding programming, facility rentals, special use permits, recreational opportunities, rules, regulations, etc.; direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Process various program registrations, facility reservations, membership/discount passes, and payments through recreation and point-of-sale software; process daily transactions, refunds, and activity transfers; collect user group fees; reconcile cash irregularities and daily cash-outs; make daily deposits.
- Maintain customer accounts using recreation management software; perform data entry of program and facility rental information.
- Provide a variety of front-line customer service at Parks & Recreation facilities, including Fort Missoula, Home Plate, Currents, Splash, Crazy Creek Cafe, Fireline Grill, etc.
- Prepare and distribute rosters for all programs; prepare reports and assist with compiling data from recreation software.
- Assist with managing facility rentals and special events, including permits, fees, insurance, and other logistics.
- Provide support in training other recreation customer service staff.
- Assist with generating fliers, signs, and other information for the public.
- Perform cleaning duties in the office, lobby, hallways, and facility entrances.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices of facilitating various aquatics, recreation programs and special events, including program/event management, planning, implementation, etc.
- Knowledge of, and ability to interpret and promote, departmental safety considerations, City safety policies, OSHA standards and guidelines, and the Americans for Disabilities Act.
- Skill in utilizing various computer software and databases, including point-of-sale software, and the ability to learn job-specific applications and equipment.

- Duties may be performed under conditions where noise, heat, dampness or cold are unavoidable.
- Duties may require driving City vehicles to transport youth of all ages to various recreational sites and facilities.
- Position may require schedule flexibility to accommodate evening, weekend, and/or seasonal needs.
Qualifications and Additional Application Materials
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of recreation/aquatics programming, water quality, facility management, customer service, sports facilitator, food and beverage experience, or another relevant field.
- Must be of legal age to perform the duties of the position.
- Must have basic CPR certification, or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
- Must have a valid Montana driver’s license with a verified acceptable driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- May be required to pass a fingerprint background check.
