What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Attendant position at City of Minnetonka?
Position requires an individual who can accept responsibility and is excellent at dealing with children and their families. Individuals assigned to this position will be responsible for providing childcare services to the Williston Fitness Center patrons.
Schedule will include evening and weekend shifts. (approximately 4 - 12 hours/week).
- Oversees and provides care to children using the drop-in service.
- Provides a variety of age-appropriate, non-structured activities for children and encourages their participation.
- Maintains a clean work area and assists children in hand washing.
- Communicates with parents and assists in assuring confidence in the program.
- Monitors activities and ensures children follow established policies to provide a safe, healthy, and caring atmosphere.
- Assists with stocking day care room.
- Performs opening and closing duties.
- Maintains records and prepares reports as needed or requested.
- Verifies sign-in and sign-out policies.
- Collects receipts from parents upon pick-up.
- Responds to emergencies by providing first aid, CPR and calling 911.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.

- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- CPR/AED and first aid certification within 6 months of hire.
- Working knowledge of child care practices.
- Working knowledge of age-appropriate, non-structured activities crafts and game.
- This postion requires a pre-employment BCA background check.
- One year paid or unpaid childcare experience.
- Age appropriate, non-structured activities for children.
- Deal with customers effectively.
- Communicate effectively.
- Learn Center policies, programs and practices.
- Obtain CPR/first aid certification within six months of employment.
All employees must wear a uniform at all times. Acceptable attire includes shorts or pants worn along with a Williston shirt, sweatshirt, or jacket.
