What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Tech position at City of Midland?
Performs the maintenance of various City of Midland buildings and equipment. Performs maintenance tasks including air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and masonry.
Ability to safely use tools and equipment such as sewer machines, amp/volt meters, trucks and hand tools. Skill in the reading and practical application of manuals, blueprints and other similar specifications used by the city. Must be able to read blueprints and transform into actual job. Ability to read, measure and calculate types and sizes of materials needed for equipment and building systems repair and ability to reason amount of time that will be used in the process. Familiarity with local City and building codes. Substantial understanding of HVAC systems and process required.
High school diploma and three to five years of experience in a related field required. Valid Texas driver's license required.
- Inspects and maintains air conditioning equipment.
- Makes plumbing repairs and installations including broken lines, faucets, and cleans sewer lines.
- Performs electrical repairs and installations including light ballast and bulbs.
- Paints doors, walls and trim. Replaces tile and cove base, ceramic and composition.
- Moves furniture and boxes, hangs pictures and repairs furniture.
- Performs carpentry repairs including replacing doors, jams, and window glass.
- Makes minor roof repairs and seals around buildings.
- Performs related duties as required.
