Under the direct supervision of the Streets Foreman, the Streets Maintenance Worker is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and improvement of City of Middleton public roads and related infrastructure. This position operates light and heavy equipment and performs a variety of tasks, including snow removal and ice control, streetlight repairs, street sweeping, stormwater system maintenance, and other general maintenance activities. The Streets Maintenance Worker works collaboratively with other field maintenance staff and interacts with the public regularly.

Essential duties are not necessarily listed in priority order. - Performs construction, maintenance, and repair of City streets, sidewalks, alleys, and related infrastructure such as patching streets, repairing asphalt and concrete, finishing concrete flatwork, and pavement markings.
- Operates light and heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, vacuum trucks, bucket trucks, tractors, end loaders, skid steers, forklifts, sweepers, pavers, roller, chainsaws, and various other equipment.
- Performs snow and ice control operations, such as plowing, salting, and brining roads during inclement weather, often during off-hours or emergency conditions.
- Conducts traffic signal maintenance and minor electrical repairs as assigned.
- Performs stormwater system maintenance, including cleaning catch basins, culverts, and drainage structures.
- Assists with street sweeping.
- Loads, unloads, and transports materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Performs routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and cleaning; reports mechanical issues promptly.
- Follows all safety policies, procedures, and traffic control standards, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Responds to citizen inquiries and concerns as needed.
- Collaborates with other Streets, Parks, and Public Works staff to complete assigned projects efficiently.
- Maintains accurate records related to work performed, materials used, and equipment operations.
- Completes special projects and other job duties as assigned or required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in street maintenance, public works field services, construction, or a closely related field.
- Possess or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a State of Wisconsin Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement
