The City of Macomb is seeking an experienced Community Development Director to lead zoning, development, code enforcement, and community and economic development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and enforce zoning, building, housing, and property maintenance codes.
- Review development plans, zoning requests, subdivisions, and permits.
- Serve as staff liaison to Planning Commission, ZBA, and Historic Preservation Commission.
- Oversee rental inspections, neighborhood preservation, and code enforcement.
- Manage TIF Districts, Business Development District, Enterprise Zone, revolving loan program, and housing grants.
- Prepare community development and housing grant applications.
- Serve as City Plat Officer and respond to zoning/development inquiries.
- Collaborate with MAEDCO, WIU, and regional partners; prepare reports and policy recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, geography, public administration, or related field
- Five years of municipal/community development experience, preferred.
- AICP or PCED preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Residency in McDonough County required.
- Strong code knowledge, communication, and project management skills.
