Overview
Under the supervision of the Sports and Athletics Supervisor, position is responsible for a variety of duties instructing or leading individuals in various leisure time activities. Programs include but are not limited to soccer, flag football, basketball, and other sports programs. To effect positive change in peoples life styles through exercise and wellness education. Possible hours are Friday 5-9pm and Saturday 9am-5pm.
Examples of Duties

Create a friendly welcome atmosphere in sports programs. Lead participants games. Monitor proper techniques and advise students. Create an environment of inclusion for all participants and develop sportsmanship behavior in participants. In working with young people, officials are expected to contribute to the development and educational experience of the participants while enforcing the policies and procedures of recreational Sports.
General Qualifications
Knowledge of current coaching and instruction techniques in sports.
An understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and bio-mechanics.
- Skills in leading and/or instructing multiple students in multiple sports activities.
- Skills in motivating and encouraging participants to perform their best.
- Ability to effectively communicate sports concepts and rules as well as simulate sports activities and movement.
- Must have thorough knowledge of sports rules and regulations in order to make calls on fouls and penalize participants appropriately.
- Ability to interact with participants, parents and co-workers.
- Must learn and enforce rules of the sport under direction of the Sports and Athletics Supervisor;
- Ability to responsibly oversee the use of recreation facilities and sports equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous relationships with the public.
- Ability to maintain simple records and to understand and carry out oral and written instruction.
- Ability to perform physical activities for prolonged period of time and instruct during the execution of the activity.
- Provide a safe environment for participants to compete.
- Posses excellent communication skills.
- Remain partial and fair to all teams.
- Develop knowledge of the rules, positioning and mechanics for each sport.
Additional Information
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. Previous experience in instructing and or participation in sporting activities in recreational or competitive sports setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Must be able to simulate athletic movements necessary to coach sports. Must be able to run, see, hear, and effectively communicate for sports participants. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
EQUIPMENT TO BE OPERATED
Sports timing devices and tracking mechanisms such a as stop watches, scoreboards, and scorebooks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Gyms, and multipurpose sport fields.
