- Starting Salary: $58,219.20
- After Six Months of Successful Employment: $60,195.20
- After One Year of Successful Employment: $62,150.40
- Maximum salary is achieved after three successful years of employment.
NOTE: Annual salary adjustments may also occur, based on collective bargaining agreements.
- Repairs or replaces plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, bulbs, electrical switches, ballasts, motors and wiring.
- Painting and caulking.
- Minor repairs to roofs, windows and doors, clean roof gutters and drains.
- Changes filters and performs routine maintenance on heating and cooling units.
- Repair locking systems on doors, files, cabinets and lockers, move and relocate office furniture and repair desks, chairs and files.
- Assists Senior Building Mechanics in more difficult phases of work.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
By the closing date of this announcement, an applicant must:
- Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
- Possess a high school diploma or a valid equivalency certificate; and
- Have at least three years of full-time paid experience in the building mechanic trade; and
- Possess and maintain a current valid driver's license with a clean driving record; and
- Possess or be eligible for a Commercial Driver's License - Group A; and
- Must have or be eligible for a valid Industrial Truck Driving Permit for operation of a forklift.
PARTS OF EXAMINATION AND WEIGHTS
Written Test - 50% Interview - 50%*
NOTE: A maximum of eight qualified applicants with the highest passing score on the written test will be invited to the interview part of the examination. Candidates must pass the written test and the interview in order to be placed on the eligible list.
*In the event there are three or fewer candidates who pass the Written Test, the Interview Panel will be waived, and the Parts of Examination and Weights will default to 100% Written Test.

- Have a working knowledge of plumbing, electricity and carpentry.
- Have thorough knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in building maintenance.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
