Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Utility Billing Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will support the utility billing operations by ensuring accurate data entry, account reconciliation, and timely billing processes. The Assistant Utility Billing Clerk provides customer service to callers and visitors to the utility department and provides support to the Public Works department. This is accomplished by greeting customers, answering questions, providing assistance, and researching information. Other duties include taking payments for services, entering payments, and processing monies for deposit. Your proactive approach will help maintain excellent customer service standards while adhering to financial regulations and accounting principles. Duties
- Assist in processing utility bills accurately using billing software and accounting system.
- Enter data meticulously into spreadsheets and financial software, ensuring precision with Excel formulas and 10-key typing.
- Support accounts receivable functions by managing collections accounts and facilitating client communication for overdue payments.
- Aid in generating reports, identify discrepancies or irregularities.
- Collaborate with customer service teams to address billing inquiries, resolve issues promptly, and maintain positive client relationships.
- Answers customer inquiries, both in person and on the phone, creates work orders for Public Works Department.
- Balances cash drawer daily for deposit.
- Maintains documentation by processing information, filing, and storing data.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Skill in the use of a personal computer and the ability to use various types of standard office equipment.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Skill in processing payments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Must have basic knowledge of accounting clerical methods, forms, and techniques.
- Ability to work effectively and patiently with internal and external customers/citizens.
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
