The Police Department is seeking a highly organized, tech-savvy Police Support Services Supervisor to lead our Police Records Unit and oversee key technology and applications that support department operations. This non-sworn role combines traditional records management responsibilities with hands-on oversight of mission-critical systems, including RMS, CAD, digital evidence platforms, mobile applications, and related law-enforcement technologies.

Essential Functions:
- Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate Police Records Unit staff.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in processing police reports, citations, warrants, public records requests, and NIBRS/MIBRS submissions.
- Maintain policies and procedures related to records retention, dissemination, and confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Oversee quality control and secure management of sensitive data.
- Serve as the department’s primary point of contact for police technology systems including RMS, CAD, digital evidence systems, report-writing platforms, and other specialized tools.
- Coordinate with IT, vendors, and sworn leadership on system updates, troubleshooting, user access, security permissions, and integrations.
- Lead or support technology projects, system implementations, upgrades, testing, and documentation.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide user support, training, and guidance to staff on department applications and workflows.
- Analyze operational needs and develop process improvements for records and support services operations.
- Prepare reports, audits, and data extracts for command staff and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with dispatch, investigations, patrol, and IT divisions to ensure effective information flow and system performance.
- Assist with budget development for technology and support services, including forecasting licensing, maintenance, and equipment needs.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Equivalent of an associate’s degree, supplemented by specialized training in technology used in support of public safety services.
- Three (3) years of experience in law-enforcement records, public safety technology support, or related police operations; at least one (1) year in a lead or supervisory role preferred.
- Working knowledge of police records processes, public records laws, data privacy, and law-enforcement terminology.
- Experience with police systems, technology & applications such as Central Square Pro Suite CAD, RMS, digital evidence management, NCIC/State systems, LiveScan or similar technologies.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to manage technical workflows and coordinate with IT staff.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to train, coach, and support users at all levels.
- Experience with NIBRS/MIBRS reporting and compliance.
- Vendor or system-specific certifications (e.g., RMS/CAD admin training).
- General procedures of use of NCIC, MULES, and other criminal justice information systems.
- Familiarity with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) security standards.
Finalists will be required to undergo an extensive background investigation, which may include a review of criminal history, employment verification, references, driving record, and polygraph, psychological screening, drug screening, etc. Additionally, candidates must meet all Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security requirements, which requires that applicants have no disqualifying criminal history. Individuals with felony convictions, or certain misdemeanor offenses, are not eligible for CJIS access.
A typical starting salary is $75,000-$80,000. Actual salary will be based upon qualifications.
