Inspects work performed by contractors and park staff to ensure compliance with contract specifications as well as adherence to park facility standards of care.Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind work assignments and make reasonable accommodation so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Conduct inspection of parks to ensure compliance with park standards of care levels, ordinances and permits.
  • Prepare reports and communicate status of services to Park Operations leadership.
  • Conduct inspections of mowing, trash removal and tree contract services and measure against contract scope and specifications.
  • Communicate with contractor representatives regarding completion of work and compliance with contract scope and specifications.
  • Assist with Parks and Recreation special events, attend event meetings when assigned.
  • Attend Parks and Recreation departmental meetings and trainings.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: 6 months of experience in contract compliance, inspections and creating reports.

Any combination of related, education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements. 

License and Certifications: Must obtain a chemical applicator license, turf management certification, certified arborist, or project management certification within 6 months of hire date. Conditions of EmploymentMust submit to and pass a criminal background, pre-employment drug test, pre-placement medical examination, and job placement assessment (JPA). Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver’s License Class “C” and good driving record as defined by City policy. An applicant who does not possess a Texas Driver's License or proper class, will be allowed ten (10) working days after a job offer is made to obtain proper licensing.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of: Proper landscape and maintenance procedures; Safe operation, care, and minor repairs of park equipment; Turf management; park management maintenance such as irrigation, horticulture. arboriculture, pesticides, herbicides, and playground safety; use of landscape and facility maintenance equipment.

Skilled in: Operating small machinery such as push mowers, edgers and weed eaters; Using digital mapping and navigation tools to identify park locations, contractor
work areas, boundaries, routes, and inspection area; Take and follow both verbal and written instructions; Communicate with supervisors, peers, and the public; Analyze maintenance needs and prioritize work based on risk, usage, and service levels; Skills necessary to operate assigned tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner; Computer skills including Microsoft office, e-mail and the Google Suite and work order management systems; Accept responsibility and account for his/her actions; Following instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks; Punctual and attend work regularly; Work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in the field; strength, stamina, and mobility to climb and descend stairs, and to operate a motor vehicle and visit various City sites. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking, hiking, and/or climbing in and through operational areas to identify situations, problems, or hazards.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate the above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb to perform work and inspect work sites, and push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees perform heavy manual labor and to work in adverse conditions when required, and work in enclosed spaces as tight as 30” x 30”. Employees must regularly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 75–100 pounds with or without assistance. Typical daily lifting requirements for certain tasks range from 10 to 25 pounds.

Employees work primarily in the field and may be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and/or hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road and/or land hazards, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees work partially in an office environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature conditions. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

Salary : $47,429 - $50,626
