Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Library Technician or member of the Administrative Team, the Technical & Marketing Library Assistant provides more specific duties related to collection work and works closely with the administrative team to create and share social media material, digital, website and published print material compliant to ADA Title II.Essential Functions:
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate and certificate or Associate’s degree in fields of graphic design, digital media or graphic communication. Education or experience with customer service, working as part of a team, graphic or web design, digital media, andtechnology skills required. Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Knowledge & Abilities:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail; demonstrate excellent customer service skills;be able to maintain confidentiality;display strong written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrate time management skills, the ability to work independently and to meet deadlines; have technology skills including general knowledge of social media platforms, databases, software packages, website platforms, printing and scanning. Ideal candidate must demonstrate professional judgment in content creation, ability to follow City of Lewiston and Lewiston City Library policies, ability to follow copyright law and ADA Title II requirements. Must work well within a team. Position will include other duties as assigned. Night and weekend shifts may be required.Working Conditions:
Work setting is professional, team oriented, having both routine and variable tasks. Work pace and pressure is variable, but frequently fast-paced and high pressure. Primary functions require the following: ability to work in an office and operate office equipment and technology; ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels; ability to bend and twist, sit, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and crawl; ability to lift 35-40 lbs., ability to carry 30 lbs., ability to reach in all directions. - Receive and distribute new library material in preparation for processing.
- Label and process new library material for public use.
- Relabel and add or modify existing item records in library ILS.
- Working with administrative team, create digital and print content for social media, onsite publication, website and off-site print distribution compliant with ADA Title II requirements.
- Position will include other duties as assigned.
