The City of Las Vegas, Municipal Court is accepting applications for a Technician/Specialist (Administrative) position. This is an hourly entry-level, part-time position. Duties include, but no limited to, assisting with answering phones/emails, scheduling, distributing mail, data entry, filing, and some record keeping.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Thursday
Hours: 20 per week
Selection Process
The department will review applications and create a pool of candidates for interview. Any individual offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and a fingerprint background check. Must obtain applicable level of NCIC/NCJIS certification and/or training within 6 months of the date of appointment and maintain proficiency as needed.
- Provides a wide variety of clerical functions to support assigned work unit and its staff.
- Formats, drafts, composes, prepares and proofreads a wide variety of documents from drafts or verbal instruction; may prepare large mailings.
- Compiles information and data needed for reports or as requested; creates, formats and updates various types of reports; checks for accuracy and organizes data; may run periodic reports from an automated system.
- Enters data from various sources into spreadsheets or databases using a personal computer, including accounting, statistical and related information; inputs corrections and updates; verifies data for accuracy and completeness; retrieves data as requested.
- Schedules and reserves rooms for appointments and meetings.
- Takes messages or information or retrieves messages from a general voice mail box and forwards inquiry or information, or obtains information requested and responds.
- Performs a variety of record-keeping duties, including creating and maintaining filing systems; researching and resolving discrepancies as needed; scanning and indexing documents to convert to electronic storage; May participate in records retention activities for the work unit.
- Receives, opens, sorts, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence; prepares outgoing mail sent by various carriers.
- Answers the telephone; provides a wide variety of assistance to the general public in a courteous manner. May serve as a receptionist for the work unit.
- Operates a variety of office equipment including a multi-line telephone, personal computer, calculator, multi-function copiers, facsimile machine and document shredder; inputs and retrieves data and text.
- Operates a copier to make paper and scanned copies as requested; compiles documents into packets; may distribute copies as instructed.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all internal and external customer information accessed during the performance of assigned duties.
- Must at least 18 years of age.
- Bilingual skills are desirable.
- Must obtain applicable level of NCIC/NCJIS certification and/or training within 6 months of the date of appointment and maintain proficiency as needed.
- Ability to deliver effective customer service; for both internal and external customers.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform general clerical duties.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
