Environment Factors:
Position functions 15% outdoors in all types of weather conditions and 85% indoors where occasional exposure to electrical hazards and active lasers (fiber optics) exists.
Physical Factors:
Position requires the ability to push/pull and lift/carry equipment, such as personal computer and disk tower weighing up to 80 pounds. Involved occasional bending, stooping, reaching, crouching, and writing and frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse. Visual and auditory acuity necessary to perform essential job functions.
Work Situation Factors:
Position involves on-call status, competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and Mesilla Valley Regional Authority Dispatch (MVRDA) policies.

- Provide technical assistance to MVRDA staff; provides technical support and analysis by consulting with users to determine hardware, software or system required specifications; responds to the technical support needs and inquiries of users; explains Information Technology (IT) issues, deploys solutions, and follows up with users to assure the stability and functionality of the users’ systems; performs computer trouble-shooting to diagnose problems; analyzes computer functionality; identifies, locates, resolves and repairs problems within scope of authority; documents call records and results.
- Maintains and updates computer systems, primarily comprising Microsoft Windows; installs software and upgrades, enhancements and revised functions; installs and relocates computers and peripheral hardware as directed; provides referral to Network Systems Administrator when problems occur which are beyond their skills or outside scope of authority, and tracks the problem until it has been resolved; configures, installs and upgrades user computers, tablets and peripherals; sanitizes and redeploys computers as needed. Tests and modifies computer systems based on the needs of the user or specific system design and operational requirements.
- Creates and maintains user accounts and system access for e-mail and file shares; configures and maintains users, systems and software for remote access to work off-site; maintains an accurate report of equipment and software malfunctions; performs basic network trouble-shooting to diagnose connectivity and security problems; identifies, resolves and repairs problems within scope of authority; prepares and updates technical documentation; checks physical wiring and component connectivity.
- Coordinate maintenance, support and troubleshooting activities with various contracted vendors.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, local, and internal security policies.
- Provides end-user and staff training, support and assistance on various types of hardware and software as required.
- Participates in IT On-call rotation with 45 minute on-site response required.
- Keeps abreast of technological trends and new product developments.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- Reports to the MVRDA Executive Director under the direction of the MVRDA Network Systems Administrator.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum (one) 1– (three) 3 years of IT support experience in an enterprise environment. Candidates should be comfortable handling daily system maintenance, hardware troubleshooting, and user account management. Equivalent education, training, or certifications may substitute for experience.
Preferred:
Associates Degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science or directly related field is preferred.
License and Certifications:
Valid NM Class D Drivers License or equivalent issued by another state. CompTIA A Certification and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) required within 6 months of hire.
General Knowledge of: Principles and practices of managing current Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office computer software; capabilities of computer hardware, software and operating systems; basic network support and printer management procedures; job related technical terminology; system access and security guidelines and procedures; hardware and software troubleshooting techniques in a networked environment; MVRDA organization, operations, policies and procedures.
Ability to: Assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands; communicate effectively in verbal and written forms; establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and customers; work independently as well as in teams; interpret technical instructions; exercise initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; respond effectively to customer service requests; operate a motor vehicle and navigate across even and uneven surfaces.
