Job Summary:
The Recreation, Parks & Arts (RPA) Department is seeking a tech and business process savvy and proactive Recreation System Specialist to support, train, and lead improvements for our recreation software system. This role acts as the key liaison between staff and technology, ensuring smooth operations, troubleshooting issues, and delivering effective training. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management
- Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities
- Follows suggested procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety and risk avoidance
Technical
- Responsible for City's Recreation registration computer system. Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting this system; conducts training and orientation for all department registration system users; handle support calls from Recreation staff to IT pertaining to the Recreation computer system; coordinates quality control on Recreation System with department users
- Coordinates requests for system modifications, enhancements, testing, and new system developments; maintains database tables
- Designs, initiates, and maintains department operational forms and Recreation computer system user manual
- Receives, screens, and directs calls; gives information to callers relating to operation of the area to which assigned; may be required to keep appointment calendar of administration staff
- Prepares reports, narratives and statistical tabulations
- Operates office machines such as calculator, dictating equipment, typewriter, word processor, copier, fax, etc.
- Coordinates membership suspensions and notification to members; handles returned checks and collection of debt
- Utilizes desktop publishing if necessary and designs forms, flyers, newsletters, manuals
- Performs miscellaneous clerical, typing, telephones, record retention
- Maintains department contacts with instructors, vendors, rentals and professional services

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED), supplemented by coursework in business administration or applicable discipline and three (3) years of full-time experience in specified discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills and communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
- Considerable knowledge of business English, spelling and math
- Ability to independently complete work assignments following departmental policies
- Ability to maintain complex records and make reports requiring extreme accuracy
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public
- Skill in the operation of office equipment such as computers, word processing, databases, desktop publishing, and spreadsheets
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment: 100% inside a climate controlled building.
Physical Requirements: The essential functions of the job require: sitting approximately six (6) hours per day, standing approximately one (1) hour per day, and walking approximately one (1) hour per day. The job also requires frequent: bending/stooping, fine manipulations, and repetitive motion, with occasional: grasping, reaching, and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 44 pounds. On rare occasions the work requires: crawling, kneeling, pulling, and pushing.
Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation and on the telephone. Speaking: Ability to communicate orally with others and speak effectively on the telephone. Seeing: Ability to see and read computer monitor screens and read normal print.
Driving Requirements: Requires occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Technology: The work requires ability to operate telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and/or laptop computers, calculators and all associated software. The work also requires proficiency with computer hardware and software programs including word, spreadsheet and/or database applications, internet applications, and database management.
