- Performs general clean-up and maintenance of city facilities; replaces light bulbs; cleans the bathrooms and ensures that they are adequately stocked with toilet paper, paper towels and soap; washes and waxes floors and shampoos carpets.
- Maintains and monitors inventory for cleaning supplies.
- Maintains all equipment used to perform work.
- Cleans and maintains parking lots for traffic department.
- Drives truck to haul trash.
- Performs general ground maintenance; cuts grass with lawn mower, weed-eater and edger; climbs trees to trim limbs.
- Paints the walls and fixtures; moves chairs, tables to set-up special group meetings and trainings.
- May perform minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Assists in the maintenance of air-conditioners and heating systems in accordance with accepted practices and procedures.
- Cleans and washes the air-conditioner filters on a weekly basis.
- Performs carpentry activities when needed including painting and masonry work as needed.
- Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors and other business contacts.
- Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.
- Performs related work as required.

Required Education and Experience
- At least three (3) months of general experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment.
