The City of Laramie is hiring for a Recreation Division Manager who will be responsible for the operations of the Recreation Division within the Parks, Recreation, and Public Services Department. This includes oversight of the Laramie Community Recreation Center, Laramie Community Ice & Event Center, and all recreation programs, special events, partnerships, and recreation services provided by the City of Laramie.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve on the department's Executive Leadership Team, which works on strategic short- and long-term planning, leadership and workforce development, team building, and department wellness.
- Develop, monitor, and manage the Recreation Division budget, which includes both general municipal funding and an enterprise-type special fund at the Recreation Center; monitor revenue and expenditures across three subdivisions; recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Recommend and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, guidelines, and priorities for the Recreation Division; identify resource needs.
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and evaluate the work of staff responsible for providing all recreation program services and facilities within the Recreation Division.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate recreation personnel; coordinate staff development; work with employees on process and performance improvement; implement progressive discipline procedures as needed.
- Develop and manage the daily and strategic operations of the Recreation Division; collaboratively identify and resolve problems; schedule activities and projects; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures.
- Assess and make recommendations regarding facility operations, fee structure, equipment needs; evaluate current programs and implement changes as needed.
- Promote, market, and inform City employees, the public, and citizen groups on available recreation programs, services, and facilities.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries and customer complaints.
- QUALIFICATIONS** *(A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying)*:
- Seven years of progressively responsible recreation management and program administration, including facility management, budgeting, and supervisory experience.
- Experience with Recreation Management software systems highly desirable.
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation administration, hospitality, or a closely related field.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Parks and Recreation Executive (CPRE) highly desirable.
- Certified Pool Operator certification and/or Aquatics Facility Operator certification are desirable.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within six months, CPR & First Aid certification.
